Richards television break came when Channel 4's 'The Big Breakfast' scouted him. After a rigorous audition process he became the regular designer with his own slot and found himself presenting the show outside of design. His popularity brought him other offers and he has since presented programmes such as BBC 1's 'Housecall', The Ruby Wax Show and even The National Lottery. For Granada TV he has presented 'Homes and Garden', 'MUTV', 'DIY SOS', 'Simply DIY' and 'Home'. For BBC Choice Richard has presented 'Simply Complicated' and 'Eastenders Revealed' and for Channel 5 'Exclusive!' which have taken him out of the design environment and into entertainment programmes.
