My first appearance on TV came on the Big Breakfast almost 12 years ago (talk about being thrown in at the deep end?).
I was taken on by Planet 24, the makers of the show, to be their interior design expert and over 4 years i really had a blast from teaching Denise van Outen certain crafts and ideas, designing room sets, stenciling with Jenny McCarthy, laying a floor with Caprice, and painting with Kelly Brook and far too many others to mention. All this took place every Thursday on the show.
After a while I was asked to do a feature on a Wednesday called "Randall Reads" which involved me having a ball and reviewing the latest film and book releases, then in studio I would dress up in character and read some of the script... a real giggle but also great experience in front of the camera and of course transmitting live!!
Two great times stick in my mind, one being the chance to present a game show through the night of the 24 hour millennium special show which entailed me having my own private jet and running and presenting a game show in several airports and then ending up flying the winners back to the studio for the final hour of the show!! An amazing time was had by all and again it was invaluable experience, just like my final happy memory when I was asked to co-present the whole two hour show with the delightful Lisa Tarbuck which went very well and resulted in me having a flood of offers for all sorts of other TV work!!
